If the student does NOT meet EVERY Eligibility Requirement below, he/she cannot tryout until every requirement is fulfilled.

WHAT YOU NEED IN ORDER TO TRYOUT ON MARCH 19TH

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for tryouts, practice, or participation in interscholastic athletic contests, a player must meet all Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) and East Hartford Public School System (EHPS) eligibility requirements and policies:

  1. Sports Physical - Must receive a medical examination once every 365 days by a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, or licensed professional. (Click here for a student medical examination form).  If you need to get a physical right away bring the medical examination form to a nearby walk-in clinic or a CVS that offers sports' physicals.  (Click here for the CVS website)

  2. Parent Permission Form - Must have a completed 'Parent Permission' form for each season of participation.  (Click here for Parent Permission page one & page two) May not participate at the high school level for more than four seasons in that sport (one season per year) and cannot participate for a period lasting longer than eight consecutive semesters upon entry into grade nine.

  3. Age - May not participate if he/she becomes 20 years of age during the season.

  4. Attendance - EHPS requires the student athlete to be present at least four (4) periods in order to participate in activities or practices.

  5. Academics - Athletes must have a minimum of a 1.7 GPA

 

***OK Coach, I've met all the requirements and I've been cleared to tryout.  What else do I need?

 

  • Water/water bottle

  • Towel

  • Athletic sneakers - preferably basketball sneakers. (skateboard sneakers, Converse All-stars, Nike Roushes will not be permitted.  They can lead to serious ankle injuries.)

  • T-shirt

  • Shorts

  • and most importantly... A GOOD ATTITUDE!!!
